Creating a Quieter Hospitality Environment
Hilton Seychelles Canopy required an effective acoustic solution to minimise noise generated by a continuously operating generator room located within a high traffic area of the resort.
The challenge was to achieve strong acoustic absorption within a limited-depth metal frame partition while maintaining a clean, durable installation around complex service penetrations.
The Challenge
Controlling Noise Without Compromising Performance
The generator operated continuously, producing significant mechanical and airborne noise, including low-frequency engine pulses.
The partition system also included large silencer and attenuator penetrations, creating potential acoustic leakage paths. The insulation therefore needed to provide:
High acoustic absorption
Effective low frequency noise control
A continuous fit around service penetrations
Long term stability within the partition
A durable finish suitable for exposed applications
Our Solution
A Layered Acoustic Insulation System
A combination of Knauf Insulation Partition Batt 32kg/m³ and Silencer Batt 48kg/m³ was selected and installed in a layered configuration within the metal frame partition.
This system provided improved airborne sound attenuation while allowing the insulation to fit effectively within the available wall depth and around challenging service areas.
The Silencer Batt's durable black woven glass veil also provided a robust exposed finish and helped maintain the integrity of the acoustic insulation system.
